A Night Under the Stars is an exciting astronomy event that will bring students, families, and community members together to explore the wonders of space. The event is designed for students involved in our Girls Excelling in Maths and Science (GEMS) program, while also welcoming parents, carers, neighbouring schools, and members of the local community.
During the evening, participants will take part in a range of hands-on STEM activities focused on astronomy and space science. Students will have the opportunity to use telescopes to observe objects in the night sky, learn how astronomers study stars and planets, and explore interesting questions about our solar system and the universe. Interactive activity stations will allow students to investigate scientific concepts, solve problems, and engage in real-world STEM learning.
The event aims to inspire curiosity and show students that science is exciting, practical, and connected to everyday life. By meeting other people who are interested in STEM and learning about future opportunities in science and technology, students will be encouraged to continue exploring STEM subjects at school and beyond.
The event will also strengthen connections between the school and the wider community by providing a shared learning experience for students, families, and local residents. Through this combination of hands-on learning, community involvement, and real-world STEM experiences, Under the Stars will create an engaging and memorable National Science Week celebration that encourages a lifelong interest in science and discovery.
