We are planning the most amazing science week ever for Ravenswood Heights Primary School!

Each classroom will be exploring demonstrations which are interesting and exciting for our students.  With each of the stages doing the same demonstrations, we expect there will be quite the buzz in the playground.

Our demonstrations include:

Stage 1:
Fabulous Fizz - bicarb soda with vinegar and food dye to explore chemical reactions.  Eye protection and white coats to complete the science feel!

Engineer extravaganza - Solve the problem of how to get water to the garden with an invention you draw and model

Stage 2:

Rot your socks off - each class will bury a pair of cotton socks in our school garden 3 months before.  Which pair will be the most decomposed?  What causes decomposition?

Fascinating PH - Change the colour of red cabbage juice by adding acids or bases

Stage 3:

Dying to know - Find out what colours went into the ink of each pen.  Using your forensic understanding, discover which pen wrote the suspicious note!

Blueprint of Life - create cyanotype prints of organic and inorganic objects exploring opaque, translucent and transparent materials.

• We will have a science assembly with a gallery showing all the science and STEM work we have done through the year.  Families will be invited to explore this work.
