The Great Wind Festival

  • From
  • St Francis of the Fields
Blucher street, Strathfieldsaye, VIC 3551, Australia

We will celebrate the installation of our new weather station throughout our ''Great Wind Festival'' at School during Science Week. This resource will be accessible to all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and will be a long‑term investment supporting STEM learning across the school.

Its official launch will take place during the Great Wind Festival, where students will be shown how the weather station works and how they can access and use the data. The festival will include hands‑on lunchtime activities centred on the guiding question, “We can’t see wind — but what does it do?” Students will make and test kites, create wind art with pinwheels, experiment with parachutes, and build wind‑powered cars.

Foundation to Year 2 students will also participate in a wind‑themed colouring competition, while Years 3–6 students will complete a wind‑powered design challenge.
