Digital Discovery in Action

  • - (AEST)
  • Central Mangrove Public School
Central Mangrove Public School, Central Mangrove, NSW 2250, Australia

During National Science Week, our school will celebrate with a “Digital Discovery Open Day.” Students and their families will take part in hands-on demonstrations using digital technology and robotics, including Lego Spike robots, Blue Bots, and new Makey Makey kits (thanks to this National Science Week grant funding). These kits allow students to experiment, code, design, and solve problems in creative ways—like turning fruit into musical instruments or inventing cool digital games.

The event will feature students showcasing their digital inventions, collaborative coding challenges, and projects that bring technology and science to life. With our school’s collection of laptops, iPads, and robots growing, there are more chances than ever for students to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) through practical, fun activities.

The grant is helping make digital technology resources available all year round, not just during special events. In partnership with families, the event encourages creativity, critical thinking, and a strong connection to STEAM. Our school is also supporting ongoing access by contributing part of the costs and managing resources, ensuring a lasting impact.

Our “Digital Discovery Open Day” aims to spark excitement and curiosity for science and technology across the school community, helping students build skills for the future.
