This output-oriented course (pre-registration and bookings essential) will teach scientists, technologists and engineers the essential skills and strategies needed to write articles for leading science journals such as the British journal Nature and the US journal Science.
The three-hour course - delivered in the form of two 90-minute sessions - will be held at Le Meridien Hotel, Bourke Street, Melbourne and online, via Zoom, from 9.30am to 11am AEST and from 2pm to 3.30pm AEST on 12 August, 2025.
Among other things, the comprehensive webinar, presented by science writer and psychologist Peter Spinks, MA, will cover fundamental principles and “rules of the journal-writing game”, equipping participants with the confidence and savvy required to write accurately, clearly and simply.
Hands-on training will be provided in preparing articles and illustrative material for multiple outlets, including in-house, local and international publications and the increasing number of online journals.
In addition, the sessions will groom participants for approaching journals for the first time. Legal issues affecting researchers and academic publishing will also be discussed. Worked examples and reference materials will be provided.
