Learn the tricks of the trade in a comprehensive three-hour course designed to improve the writing and communications skills of those needing to file important reports.
 
The Syllabus
Session 1
9.30am to 11am, Melbourne time (with a 10-minute coffee break)
  • Rationale (Why it’s worth writing excellent and easy-to-read reports for non-technical readers)
  • On paper (How savvy project managers should document discussions)
  • Value system (Key criteria for communicating technical and other research; includes the art of producing compelling figures, tables, static and interactive graphics, illustrations, photographs and videos)
  • Feedback corner (Questions and answers relating to material covered)
 
Session 2
2pm to 4.30pm Melbourne time (with a 10-minute coffee break)
  • Vetting (How to check and cross-check facts)
  • Writing technical documents (Strategies for translating complex material into easily comprehensible forms; includes what to do before and during writing a report; the art of creating structure and crafting leads that capture attention without losing accuracy)
  • Client strategies (Tips and tricks for conducting productive discussions with clients, with voice and gesture coaching; includes role-play exercises and the recording and review of simulated interviews)
