To align with the theme of this year’s National Science Week, St Anthony’s Primary School is planning to build science knowledge and enthusiasm in our students, using a range of activities that use science to care for our environment. We will be refreshing our neglected school gardens with a focus on our native wildlife and insects. Students in K-2 will work with students from the preschool, parents and community volunteers to plant new plants in our gardens that will attract wildlife and insects. Students in 3-6 will work on improving habitat for our resident Bush-Stone Curlews. We will have community input for this by having a wildlife carer come to talk to students about looking after wildlife at home and at school. Students will make their own insect hotels or baby bird buckets.
Additionally, we will be hosting our annual Science Spectacular where students will showcase the science projects they have been working on for the previous 3 weeks. High school students will work alongside our students in the creation and demonstration of these projects. Students will demonstrate their creation and knowledge for community members, parents and our local preschool students.
