SCINEMA Event Description Hosted By Bowen State High School

As part of National Science Week, Bowen SHS is hosting Lights, Camera, Science! a special SCINEMA science film event. Students will watch a selection of exciting short films, documentaries and animations that explore science in creative and surprising ways.

SCINEMA is Australia’s science film festival. It brings together films from around the world that tell interesting stories about science, nature, people, technology and our planet.

During the event, students will watch films from the SCINEMA All Ages program. They may discover unusual animals, amazing inventions, important environmental ideas or scientists working to solve real-world problems.

The event will be more than just watching movies. Before each film, students will be encouraged to think about what they already know about the topic. Students will also think about how filmmakers use pictures, sounds, facts and stories to make science interesting and easy to understand.

No special science knowledge is needed. Students only need to bring their curiosity, imagination and enthusiasm.

Join us as we dim the lights, start the films and discover that science is happening everywhere!
