Trees, bugs, birds, bees, and everything in between! We're BioBlitzing to discover and record the biodiversity of our small regional school. We'll be bird watching with binoculars, rummaging through leaf litter for bugs, plant-spotting, and using our keen senses to find tracks, scats, and more.
The objectives of a bioblitz are to record as many species as possible in a certain place within a set timeframe. Our goal is to record at least one hundred different species at our school and our adjoining bushland reserve on the Friday of National Science Week! K-6 students will rotate through three different groups throughout the day - (1) Plants and Fungi; (2) Vertebrates; and (3) Invertebrates. Group leaders will record photographs on the class iPads to then upload to the iNaturalist biodiversity platform.
