Did you know that something as small as a seed can change the world?
Join us for 'Little Seeds, Big Ideas', a whole school National Science Week celebration where students become scientists, gardeners and environmental champions. Through hands-on investigations, students will discover how seeds grow, spread and help create healthy ecosystems.
Students in Prep to Year 2 will explore seeds through sensory investigations, create their own seed bombs using Australian native seeds and make a fun cress head to take home and watch grow. These activities encourage curiosity, observation and creativity while introducing students to the importance of plants in our everyday lives.
Students in Years 3 to 6 will investigate seed germination by sprouting beans, explore how plants grow towards light and conduct a seed dissection lab to discover the different parts of a seed. They will also learn about native Australian plants and how they help local wildlife and ecosystems thrive.
Families will be invited to contribute recycled materials from home, helping students see how science, sustainability and community work together. By connecting science learning to the real world, Little Seeds Big Ideas will inspire students to ask questions, make discoveries and understand how small actions can have a big impact on our environment.
