They did what? Short video competiton

  • -
  • -

The They Did What? video competition is back and we’re calling on students from across Australia to help uncover inspiring stories of everyday Australians making a difference in STEM. This year, we want to hear stories from those who are under-represented in narratives of STEM success. Stories don’t need to come from people with big public profiles or fancy-sounding jobs – we want to celebrate the incredible STEM work happening every day, everywhere, by all kinds of people.

Students from Foundation to Year 10 are invited to create a short video (up to 3 minutes) showcasing the STEM achievements of an unsung Australian STEM star. No fancy equipment needed, just creativity, curiosity and a great story.

Prizes include gift cards up to $300 and the chance to be featured on The GiST website.

Entries close 27 November 2025, with winners announced 8 December 2025.
