Have you ever been curious about “Quantum”? This is the event for you!
The Quantum Experience is your chance to discover what quantum science really means — and why it’s popping up everywhere from computing to materials science. This family-friendly National Science Week event invites you to dive into the fascinating world of quantum science through an immersive and interactive journey led by Dr Lachlan Rogers.
Dr Rogers is a lecturer and experimental physicist in the School of Information and Physical Sciences at the University of Newcastle, and host of the Clear as Quantum podcast. Known for his work with quantum diamonds — shining lasers at diamonds to make them glow, and “listening” to single atoms in the crystal — he has a gift for making complex science clear, fun, and accessible for everyone.
This year is the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ), with the goal of raising global awareness about quantum science’s significance and real-world applications. It also aligns perfectly with National Science Week’s theme, Decoding the Universe: Exploring the unknown with nature’s hidden language.
What’s On:
• Presentation by Dr Lachlan Rogers explaining quantum science in everyday life
• Live Q&A with Dr Rogers to answer all your burning quantum questions
• Interactive hands-on activities and demos for curious minds
• Stalls showcasing quantum-related research and innovations
Come along and experience the weird, wonderful world of quantum — whether you’re 8 or 80, there’s something for everyone to discover.
