Step into the microscopic world at Sydney Technical High School’s STEAM Showcase!
As part of our “Showcasing Innovation” project, we’ve hired a real Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)—a super-powerful machine that can zoom in on tiny details invisible to the human eye. During Week 10 of Term 2, students across Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths (STEAM) will explore and celebrate the theme “Decoding the Universe – Exploring the unknown with nature’s hidden language.”
In Science, students will examine microstructures of plants, insects, and materials. Our Year 11 Investigating Science students will present research projects in a special STEAM Fair. In Visual Arts, students will create charcoal drawings based on SEM images of leaves and pollen. Engineering students will investigate how different materials look up close to understand their design uses. Plus, we’ll show off 3D printed creations made by our Innovation Hub!
The showcase will feature an SEM Art Gallery, hands-on science investigation posters, student displays, and more.
Open to families, students, and community members—come and explore the world like you’ve never seen it before!
