Sydney Science Trail School Excursions

Join the Sydney Science Trail School Excursion program from 11 - 15 August 2025 to explore the wonders of science and discovery during National Science Week.

Now in its sixth year, the Sydney Science Trail offers an engaging, hands-on program of full-day excursions at the Australian Museum and Botanic Gardens of Sydney for primary and secondary
students in Stages 2 - 6 to discover the important role science plays in our lives. 

Featuring the popular Science Expo, interactive STEM workshops, tours and shows or panel discussions led by research scientists, the Sydney Science Trail will ignite curiosity and spark wonder in your students.

Program entry includes four activity sessions, including the Sydney Science Trail Expo, between 9.30am and 2.30pm across both Australian Museum and Royal Botanic Garden Sydney sites. Both sites are easily accessible by public transport and designated bus drop off/pick up locations are also available.

Program overview:

  • Primary program (Years 3 – 6):
    Monday 11 or Tuesday 12 August  
  • Secondary program (Years 7 – 11):
    Wednesday 13, Thursday 14 or Friday 15 August  
  • Diverse Learner Sessions*:
    Years 3 – 11: Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 August
    Years 7 – 11: Wednesday 13 August 

*Diverse Learner Sessions: In 2025 we are offering Diverse Learner Sessions for students Years 3 - 11 across both our primary and secondary school days. These are designed for groups requiring a more flexible timetable or higher educator to student ratios, such as homeschool groups, support classes, EAL/D students or students with diverse needs.
