Welcome to Sunset Science Circuit: Discover, Create, Investigate!

At each rotation you get to try hands-on experiments, discover awesome facts, and learn how science is part of everything around you.

First stop is the Magic Writing station. Here, you’ll learn how to write invisible messages using special “invisible ink” made from things you can find at home or in the kitchen, like turmeric and washing powder. Next up is Bubble Snakes, here, you’ll make giant, long bubbles that look like little snakes slithering across the table. You’ll use a special “bubble solution” made from water and dish soap. Then, using a recycled plastic bottle with the bottom cut off and covered with a baby wipe, you’ll blow through the bottle and create a long chain of bubbles that look like a snake! You’ll then get ready for some groovy science at the Lava Lamp station! You’ll make your own mini lava lamp using simple household materials like water, vegetable oil, food colouring, and a fizzy tablet (like Alka-Seltzer). This station teaches you about density (why some liquids float on others) and chemical reactions (the fizzy tablet releasing gas). At the Refraction Magic station, you’ll learn about how light bends — “refraction”. You’ll draw a colourful picture on paper, place it in a snap lock bag, outline it with black marker, and then use water to perform the disappearing magic! Finally, at the Hot Air Balloon station, you get to build your own tiny hot air balloon — and see it fly! You’ll start with simple materials like a paper cup, balloon, and scissors.  You’ll use warm air to inflate the balloon and explore how hot air rises, helping things lift off the ground. Whether you love mixing colours, watching cool reactions, or figuring out how things work, these stations have something to discover.
