Discover, build and explore at STEM Sparks: Igniting Girls’ Futures in the Built Environment — a family-friendly National Science Week event designed to inspire the next generation of girls in STEM.

Join us for a fun morning of hands-on activities, inspiring conversations, and creative challenges that showcase the exciting possibilities within the built environment. Whether you stay for the whole session or just drop in, there’s something for every curious mind to spark their STEM journey.

What’s On:
• STEM Story Circles (11.00 AM) — Informal chats with women working in STEM and design.
• Drop-in Activity Stations — Explore architecture, construction, environmental science and more.
• STEM Mythbusters Challenge — Test common misconceptions about science and engineering.
• Scavenger Hunt — Connect with other CESE Open Day experiences across campus.
• Take-home STEM Sparks Packs — Especially for visiting regional school students.
• “Day in the Life” Video Series — See what real careers in the built environment look like.

Part of the University of Newcastle’s 60th Anniversary and National Science Week celebrations, this event helps young girls see themselves in science and start imagining a future in STEM fields like architecture, engineering and environmental design. Families, friends, and budding scientists are all welcome!

This event is aimed at primary and high school students.
