Who is the father of Molly's puppies? Is it Zeus or Otto?  What is DNA decoding used for?

What can DNA decoding be used for? Year 5 students will complete a "Decoding DNA" activity as a precursor to DNA analysis in solving the mystery of who the father of Molly's puppies is. Year 5 students (with the assistance of Year 9 forensics students and Year 12 Biology students) will use the technology of gel electrophoresis to determine the father of Molly's puppies, comparing the DNA of the puppies to the DNA of Molly (mum), Zeus and Otto (potential fathers).
