SciArt Festival is an artsy, 5-day science event designed for Prep to Grade 6, combining the excitement of chemical and physical sciences, with the creativity of visual srts. As part of Science Week, this immersive program will offer hands-on, curriculum-aligned learning through activities that integrate both the Science and Visual Arts Curriculum. This interdisciplinary approach will engage students as they explore the properties of materials, physical and chemical changes, and everyday chemical reactions through levelled experiments and investigations, while encouraging students to express their understanding of science through visual mediums including painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
Activities will include experimentation with Sphero painting, salt and watercolours, baking soda fizzy art, exploding art, magnet painting, and engineering bridges for Claude Monet's lily ponds. Students will have the opportunity to experiment and make their own different types of paints with both natural and synthetic materials, testing what works best for their needs.
