Did you know that you can make your own volcano? Volcanoes are incredibly powerful natural disasters that can have massive impacts on nearby towns and also the local environment such as farms and forests. How can we use science to build a volcano but also, how can we use science to protect nearby citizens? What impact does the shape of the local land have on the impact of a natural disaster like a volcano? How can we change the natural landscape to ensure that we are protected?

Students from Pinnacle State School and our playgroup will be building their own volcanoes to watch the reaction. Students will be changing the landscape around the giant volcano to protect local towns and community - for example, by building valleys, walls and trenches. Can they save the nearby town?
