Ready to Decode the Universe with PHHS!
This year, we’re combining Science Week and Book Week to explore how science and storytelling connect. Our theme, Decoding the Universe: Exploring the Hidden Languages in Nature, shows that science isn’t just in labs – it’s in stories, music, and the world around us. We’ve matched books with exciting science experiments. Whether you love reading, building, or experimenting,
there’s something for everyone!
Here’s a sneak peek:
Cyanotype prints – These long-loved things: Bring a small personal item and use sunlight and chemistry to create beautiful blue-and-white prints.
Electroplating a leaf – A leaf called greaf: Turn a real leaf into shiny treasure by coating it in copper.
Bath bombs – Afloat: Mix, fizz, and create your own bath bomb while learning about chemical reactions.
Magic flowers – The garden of broken things: Watch flowers “bloom” in water through capillary action.
Special Events:
We’re welcoming five local primary schools for a hands-on adventure – extracting real strawberry DNA! Plus, our Senior Science students will lead workshops in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Why we’re doing this:
We want you to see that science is everywhere – in books, nature, music, and even your lunch. This week is about being curious, asking questions, trying new things, and having fun while learning something new.
Let’s decode the universe together!
