We are excited to announce the return of the Our Lady’s Assumption (OLA) Science Fair, following the incredible enthusiasm, engagement, and support from our school community last year. The event was a resounding success, demonstrating how science can extend beyond the classroom into real-world learning that inspires and engages students of all ages.
The Science Fair is a celebration of OLA’s strong commitment to inquiry-based learning and showcases our students’ ability to think critically, solve problems, and collaborate effectively. It also strengthens connections between students, families, and the wider school community as we come together to celebrate learning.
Our Year Six students have thoughtfully selected, researched, and prepared a range of exciting, hands-on experiments to present to their peers from Kindergarten to Year Five. These demonstrations cover key scientific principles—such as energy, forces, motion, chemical reactions, and states of matter—and are carefully aligned with this year’s theme: “Decoding the Universe – Exploring the unknown with nature’s hidden language.”
Each activity is designed to spark curiosity and invite exploration, encouraging all students to see themselves as scientists. For our Year Six leaders, this is also an opportunity to develop confidence, communication, and leadership skills.
The OLA Science Fair is not only a celebration of science—it’s a powerful learning experience that fosters creativity, innovation, and a lifelong love of discovery.
