  • - (AEST)

Do you love space, science, or drawing? Ever dreamed of being part of a real space mission? Here's your chance! The Mission Patch Art Competition is a fun and creative challenge where students from all across Australia can design their own space mission patch, a special badge astronauts wear when they go on a mission.

This exciting competition is part of National Science Week 2025 and celebrates something huge, Sydney is hosting the 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) for the first time ever. It’s like the Olympics of Space, where the world’s top space experts come together, and now you can be part of it too.

The Challenge: Design a patch (badge) for a theoretical space mission based on the theme: “Sustainable Space: Resilient Earth” Think about how space technology can help protect our planet and how we can explore space responsibly.

Your design could be displayed at the IAC Public Day in Sydney on 3 October 2025. If you’re a finalist from New South Wales, you’ll be invited to the big event in person.

For teachers: Everything you need is ready, lesson guides, worksheets, and marking rubrics. It’s perfect for National Science Week classroom fun.
