As part of our school wide focus on Sustainability, Year 6 students will work collaboratively in small groups to design and host an interactive exhibition aimed at engaging Prep to Year 5 students in real-world environmental challenges.
The exhibition will encourage younger students to think critically and creatively about sustainable solutions in areas such as sustainable energy choices, waste management, protecting natural environments and water conservation.
Possible activities that Year 6 students may come up with include devising a plan to protect Tasmanian Devil populations, wind power challenge, creating a solar oven, planting native trees, recycled invention challenges, water filtration and rubbish bin audits.
Through hands-on activities and inquiry-based learning, students will explore how science can be used to create solutions to global issues.
In addition to facilitating the exhibition, Year 6 students will document their learning by publishing a magazine-style feature.
This will be shared with the wider school community via our newsletter and online platform, promoting awareness and inspiring action beyond the classroom. This project empowers students to become problem-solvers and change-makers, applying scientific thinking to build a more sustainable future.
