What vital ecological functions do cetaceans, large and small, perform?
How does our exploitation, past and present, diminish their abilities to perform these extraordinarily important actions thus placing them, ourselves and the planet at large at risk?
These are fundamental questions regarding our own survival.
Our focus in 2025 will be highlighting Dolphin Watch core business of dolphin conservation and increasing community awareness of the cetaceans in our waters and the urgent need for greater protection from a number of threats, including environmental challenges, human impact and invasive research practices. Only by creating a sense of optimism, hope and “can do” attitude will we be in a position to effect the necessary changes. Collaborating with others with clear goals to unobtrusively collect and use data to provide a pathway forward, we can demonstrate the benefits of coming together to “act as one” to effect positive change. The objective therefore is to make everyone an effective changemaker – one heart, one mind at a time.
