  • Glenroy Neighbourhood House
5B Cromwell Street, Glenroy VIC 3046, Australia

We’re inviting primary aged children and their families to dive into the captivating world of science through a series of dynamic and interactive activities at Glenroy Neighbourhood House.

From magical chemical reactions to plant life cycles, and even the electrifying mysteries of static electricity, our workshops are designed to spark curiosity and inspire a love for science. Let’s get ready to experiment, explore, experience and most importantly—have fun!

Our Backyard Science workshop takes kids on a journey through the plant life cycle, teaching them how plants grow, how to harvest seeds, and the importance of preserving them for future use. Children will also get a chance to use a Brix Refractometer to measure the sugar content of fresh food, gaining a deeper understanding of plant health and the nutrients in the food we eat.

The fun doesn’t stop there! Static!, led by Trish Marx of the Creative Chaos Collective, will captivate children aged 7 and up with wild demonstrations and experiments on static electricity. Kids will learn how static electricity works, create sparks, and watch their hair stand on end in this electrifying experience!

In our Chemical Reactions workshop, children will use everyday household items like baking soda, vinegar, and food colouring to create vibrant colour changes, fizzing reactions, and other magical transformations. This hands-on experience allows kids to explore the fascinating world of chemistry while learning how materials interact in unexpected ways.
