We have a beautiful school with beautiful spaces and a lot of natural features. We visit this place each school day but do we really know what calls this place home? Our plan is to conduct a survey of all the different kinds and numbers of live that lives on our school grounds and build in our community a greater appreciation of caring and sharing of the land and it's resources.
Using our existing STEAM structures, mixed P to 6 groups will be tasked with conducting a survey of a particular kind of life. First learning about it, then investigating and recording data and finally presenting to the school community at an assembly and post school meet-and greet event.
Students will collaborate to collect non-intrusive data about animal, plant and fungi diversity and prevalence.
Students will take a leading role in supporting peers, in making predictions, making conclusions and presenting recommendations about how we can preserve and enhance our school's biodiversity.
