Get ready for an explosive week of science, curiosity, and hands-on fun!
For the very first time, Gledswood Hills High School is launching National Science Week in 2025 — and it’s all about getting stuck into real science, with your hands, your brain, and your imagination. Every Year 7 student will dive into four exciting science stations:
🚗 Balloon-Powered Racers – Build and race your own car.
🧪 Kitchen Chemistry – Mix, bubble, and fizz your way through colourful chemical reactions.
🦋 Biodiversity Blitz – Head outside to explore nature, find tiny creatures, and discover what makes ecosystems tick.
🥚 Egg Drop Challenge – Can you design a contraption to protect an egg from a big fall? Put your engineering to the test!
Each activity is linked to what we’re learning in Science this year, and helps you become a better scientist – asking questions, testing ideas, and solving real problems.
The fun doesn’t stop there! We’re teaming up with our partner primary schools to share the science magic. Year 7 students will run the activities for Stage 3 students, becoming science leaders for the day.
Our program links to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and ties in with our Term 3 integrated STEM curriculum. It’s a chance to learn about the world, try new things, and make a real difference – all with simple materials, clever thinking, and loads of curiosity.
So grab your lab coat (or just your imagination) – it’s time for Science in Action: Powered by Curiosity at Gledswood Hills High School!
