Who's faster a kola or sloth?. Join us for our Storytime session reading of The Speedy Sloth, to discover for yourself.

After school we'll be exploring magnets and getting messy with slime.

Science Storytime is aimed for 0 to 4 year olds. We'll be reading the Speedy Sloth by Rebecca Young. We use toy animals to compare the speed of different animals to predict race winner. What does it feel like to be a sloth.  We do experiments to replicate the feeling of hanging from a tree. Then move on to creating a sloth magnet.

After school we have science activities for 4 to 12 year olds. We'll be experimenting with magnets and exploring magnetic poles, forces, repulsion and attractions. This knowledge will be tested by making a magnetic maze and making our own compass.

Then there is the slime kitchen. With your hands you explore all the things that ooze, squish and generally flow in unusual ways. Explore the behaviour and properties of different slimes and make your own guar gum slime to investigate back at home.

Science storytime sessions will be held at seven of our Yarriambiack Library locations - Rupanyup, Hopetoun, Warracknabeal, Beulah, Murtoa and Minyip.

After school science activities will be held at four Yarriambiack Library locations - Rupanyup, Warracknabeal, Woomelang and Beulah.
