What’s that Footprint?

  • Corowa Public School
244 Honour Avenue, Corowa NSW 2646, Australia

Playing around with stamps, rollers and clay will bring National Science Week to life at Corowa Public School. Students will have fun with symbol and print stamps making wildlife tracks to discover what animal footprint they belong to. The stampers feature symbols that connect to themes of hunting and country, language, animals, history, and culture through art and science. Exploring the unknown, students will discover how Aboriginal people use symbols to represent various aspects of life and connection to the land. Engaging wildlife tracks will give students the opportunity to explore the unique footprints of Australian animals. A fun way for students to observe the land, recognise patterns and decoding. Through this activity, students will gain a deeper understanding of decoding through observations, data collection and recording, discussing, and comparing results. To support ‘What’s that Footprint?’ students will take a walk through our schools Yindyamarra Indigenous Garden and Jane Goodall Environmental Area to find and record decoding patterns of animals in their natural habitats. Student observations and recorded data will be discussed and compared at the conclusion of the day’s activities.
