Get ready to explore the universe like never before!
Have you ever wondered how we can hear black holes, see invisible light, or unlock the secrets of stars that are millions of light years away? During National Science Week, we’re turning our school hall into a science lab full of fun, weird and mind-blowing activities—and you’re the scientist!

Our science day is called “Decoding the Universe: Waves, Light & Sound” and it's all about how scientists use energy—like sound and light waves—to understand things far beyond Earth.

You’ll get to move around different science stations, each with a cool experiment or activity to try. At one station, you’ll make sound waves with tuning forks and see how they travel through tubes—just like the machines scientists use to listen to space! At another, you’ll shine sunlight through tiny slits to create rainbow patterns and discover how light behaves like a wave and a particle (yes, it can be both!).

You'll also use slinkies and ripple tanks to see how waves move. Finally, you'll explore how we know what stars are made of by looking at colourful light through a special tool called a spectroscope and using a bunsen burner to burn various elements.

It’s all hands-on, all fun—and you'll be amazed at how much science you can do with simple materials. Who knows? It might even inspire you to become a future space scientist or inventor!
