Join us for The Great Beach Lab: Science in the Sand, a hands-on outdoor science adventure at the beach!

Presented by the Marine Discovery Centre for National Science Week and Inspiring Australia, this exciting two-hour session brings marine science, sustainability, and coastal discovery to life—right on the sand.

There are several stations to get involved in. Get hands-on with microplastics sampling, water testing, and biodiversity surveys using real scientific tools and field guides with our Citizen Science Stations. There are live demonstrations where marine educators will showcase microscopes, magnifiers, and beachcombing tools to explore coastal life. Our pop-up aquarium has live, local marine species from the Great Southern Reef, try nature journaling and scientific drawing to sharpen your observation skills through art and complete the science bingo card

Perfect for families, students, and curious minds of all ages, this event transforms your local beach into an open-air science lab filled with engaging, inclusive activities.

This is a free community event but bookings are essential.
