Stayin' Alive - Discovery Walk and nature spotlighting

  • - (AEST)
  • Blue Hole/Gara Gorge
Castledoyle Road, Armidale NSW 2350, Australia

A ranger, a botanist and an ecologist wander in the New England... and you’re invited join them!

Come along to our visitor walks in the New England area to observe and question. Learn about local flora, fauna, insects and/or fungi. Our passionate and knowledgeable hosts will describe whatever species are able to be observed on the day. If you’re interested in nature, bushwalking, our local environment, and would like to learn more about what’s living in our national parks, this is for you!

Our UNE specialist zoologist/ecologists will take participants onto the Threlfall Track with torches in hand to spot nocturnal wildlife, insects and other living critters that might be out and about on a Friday night.  The host academics will point out where to look, how to tread quietly to obtain the best views and not scare the animals or birds, and provide informative discussion points about their habitat, their behaviours and any other interesting facts.

This National Science Week event is brought to you by UNE Discovery in partnership with the local National Parks & Wildlife Services (NPWS) team and UNE academics.
