Reaching for the Stars with Krystal De Napoli and Aunty Cheryl Cooper

  • - (AEST)
  • Benalla Library
2 Fawckner Drive, Benalla VIC 3672, Australia
Please join us for an official National Science Week event, presented with the support of the Inspiring Victoria program! Discover old stories about our night sky with the help of Gomeroi astrophysicist and author Krystal De Napoli who will be joined by proud Aboriginal textile artist Aunty Cheryl Cooper.

In this engaging author talk, Krystal will share insights from her book Astronomy: Sky Country. Co-authored with Karlie Noon, the book explores the rich astronomical traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Aunty Cheryl will share her own wisdom, giving us fresh insights and greater appreciation for those areas of light and dark in our night sky.

Learn how the sky and land are deeply interconnected in First Nations knowledge systems and how these understandings can guide us in caring for Community and Country. Please visit the Benalla Library or call 03 5762 2069 during business hours to reserve your spot and help ensure this event's success.
