Nightcliff Primary School is thrilled to be celebrating Science Week 2025 in alignment with Australian Science Week. This year’s theme centres on hands-on learning, problem-solving and sustainability—areas in which our students truly shine. Throughout the week, students from all year levels will engage in exciting science experiments and design challenges during their Design and Technology lessons. The activities and experiences will help students think like scientists and engineers, encouraging curiosity and creativity as they explore how science shapes our daily lives.

In addition to classroom experiments, students will participate in a range of science-focused activities across the school, including STEM challenges, sustainability quizzes, and guest speaker sessions. The week will conclude with a whole-school Science Week Assembly, where some students will showcase their projects, share their findings, and celebrate their scientific achievements with peers, staff and families.

A highlight of the week will be a special visit from a solar car team, who will work with students and staff to share their knowledge and passion for renewable energy. This year, students will have the opportunity to get up close with a real solar-powered vehicle, speak with the engineers behind the design, and learn about the mechanics and environmental benefits of solar energy. The solar team will also be working with the Design and Technology teachers to facilitate workshops with our students, guiding them through the process of designing and building their own mini solar-powered cars.

Science Week at Nightcliff Primary is not just a celebration—it’s a powerful learning experience that brings science to life and inspires our students to explore, investigate and innovate. We can’t wait to see where their curiosity takes them!
