eMeet a Biomedical Scientist

  • -
  • - (AEST)

From lab to classroom, we're connecting high school students with biomedical scientists in Victoria!

Biomedical scientists are at the heart of multi-disciplinary healthcare teams. Their research drives the discovery of new medications, vaccines and treatments for many life-threatening diseases.

In these 20-to-30 minute eMeetings, our experts will help to inspire the next generation of biomedical scientists. Many of these experts are world-leading experts in their research field.

Students in Years 9–12 from across metropolitan, regional and rural schools are invited to ask questions such as:

  • What is it like to make a major scientific discovery?

  • How does it feel to change the course of a person’s health and life?

  • What career pathways are available for budding young Biomedical Scientists?

  • What are the latest technologies available in modern-day, cutting-edge science laboratories?

Prior to National Science Week, the University of Melbourne School of Biomedical Sciences will work with you to "match-make" each Biomedical expert with participating school classes. Meetings will be via Zoom, and will ideally take place during National Science Week itself from 12 - 16 August.

For secondary schools, register your interest here.
