Let’s Talk Science - Beyond the scale

  • Multiple Locations

No fads, no filters—just real science about food, feelings, and your body.

Have you ever wondered why we eat when we are not even hungry?
How our bodies burn energy? Whether those weight-loss ads online are actually
true? Or if you should trust what that fitness influencer just posted?

At Let’s Talk Science: Beyond the Scale, we are unpacking the real science behind food, body image, health and well-being—so it all makes sense.

Over two weeks in August, we are hosting free community events in suburban libraries across Adelaide, with something for everyone: teens, adults, families, and curious kids.

Join our expert team—including a dietitian, exercise physiologist, and pharmacists—for engaging talks.

Then, dive into our fun, hands-on activity days!

  • Build a healthy plate using colourful food models and props.
  • Train your brain and belly by learning to listen to your hunger and fullness cues and practising mindful eating.
  • Move your body in different ways and discover why all movement matters at the Exercise Zone.
  • Get creative with colouring and drawing at our Sci-Drawing station to explore gut health and nutrition (great for kids!).
  • Chat with a pharmacist and get answers to your questions about safe medicine and supplement use.
  • Everything is fun, friendly and designed to help you feel more confident and informed about your body and health.
  • Whether you are curious about nutrition or questioning the trends you see online, this is your chance to explore how science connects with everyday life—with curiosity, compassion and creativity.

Come curious, leave empowered.
