When students watch plants grow from seeds, they learn about the secret code inside all living things—DNA. As each plant grows, it follows special instructions hidden inside it, showing us how life works in amazing ways. This is a bit like being a detective, finding clues about how nature is designed.
Students will get seeds and soil to grow their own plants. High school students will learn about different types of plants and how they survive in different climates, which matches what they study in science at school. Younger students will watch their plants grow and make graphs to show how tall they get, helping them learn about living things and how to use data. Older and younger students in 60 classes will work together in this activity and will be practicing their detective skills: watching carefully, solving problems, and understanding how life cycles work and caring for the planet. During Science Week, students will show their plant projects to the whole school.
