"You have brains in your head, You have feet in your shoes, You can steer yourself any direction you choose." - Dr. Seuss
The transition from university into the workforce is rarely straightforward. The advice is scattered, the options feel endless, and LinkedIn doesn’t always tell the full story. This event aims to cut through the noise by sharing honest, relatable stories from emerging scientists who have, and still are, navigating this complex landscape themselves.
You’ll hear from early-career scientists working across research, industry, and innovation. They'll share how they got started, what their day-to-day looks like, and what they wish they’d known earlier.
SPEAKERS:
· Eliza Stott, PhD Researcher, Founder at Women in Wildlife, Wildlife Ranger at Phillip Island Nature Parks.
· Le-Anne Bannan, Masters student at RMIT in Geospatial Science, Research Assistant, Board of Directors at Geography Victoria.
· Michael Loo, NextGen Nature Program Co-coordinator at VNPA, Environmental Science, Public Service Sector.
· Sanduni Jinadasa, Systems Engineer at ADF, Robotics and Mechatronics Major, Women in STEM advocate.
This event is about more than just getting a job - it’s about mindset. We want you to walk away knowing that you have time, you have options, and you’re not behind. It's all about easing career anxiety, reducing analysis paralysis, and showing that there’s no single path to success, rather plenty of way to grow, learn, and find your 'place'.
