The Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) is proud to continue the Industry Day for Teachers in 2025, with generous support from The Invergowrie Foundation. These free professional development events connect secondary mathematics, STEM and careers teachers with tertiary educators and industry professionals to explore the critical role of mathematics in future careers.

• High School Teachers of Maths
• High School Career Advisors
• High School Teachers of STEM e.g. physics, chemistry, economics, computer science

This professional learning initiative offers a unique opportunity to engage with tertiary educators and industry professionals. The program provides essential insights into the increasing demand for mathematics and statistics in the workforce, the increasing range and scope of careers that rely on these skills, and the educational pathways that lead to these professions.

Throughout the day, participants will:

• Hear from industry professionals about how maths is applied in real-world settings
• Gain insights from academics into tertiary study options, entry requirements, and pathways into STEM careers
• Build capacity to engage with students about maths skills for their future careers
• Take part in a dedicated session addressing strategies to support students in building maths confidence and reducing anxiety, to encourage continued study in years 11 and 12
• Visit an industry organisation to learn about various industry career opportunities
• Receive a Certificate of Attendance acknowledging their participation in an AMSI professional learning activity. This certificate can be used as evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for VIT registration purposes
• Receive a free AMSI showbag, filled with useful resources
