At Richmond West Primary School, a vibrant, trilingual, inner-city school on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung, we incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait knowledge and perspectives into our curriculum whenever possible.
Given this year’s NSW theme is ‘Decoding the Universe – Exploring the unknown with nature’s hidden language’ it is appropriate that the fundamental language of nature we explore is that of the oldest living culture in the world, and we thank Elders, past and present, for sharing their knowledge with us.
We are delighted to welcome Duane Hamacher, author of The First Astronomers: how Indigenous Elders read the stars, to tell us more about what he has learnt from the Elders he worked with to create the book.
Thank you ASTA for awarding us a National Science Week grant.
