What is it?
A statewide competition inviting Queenslander residents of all ages to develop ideas that help communities better predict, mitigate and/or recover from floods.
Focus areas (choose one)
1. Prediction & Early Warning – Forecasting, alerts, data science, Indigenous knowledge
2. Mitigation – Community protection, infrastructure, animals
3. Recovery – Clean-up, rebuilding, resilience
Entry types (choose one)
• Prototypes or physical models
• Videos or animations (≤3 min)
• Written plans, essays or data analysis (≤1000 words)
• Storytelling or oral history (audio/video ≤3 min)
Dates
• Launch Wed 6 August, 2025
• Closes Wed 15 October, 2025
• Winners announced by Fri 14 November, 2025
Who can enter?
• Queensland residents of all ages
• Individuals, schools, families, or teams
Prize categories (choose one)
• Primary (≤12 yrs) $200
• Secondary (13–18 yrs) $300
• Adult (18+) $500
• Team Category A: Family/Intergenerational $500
• Team Category B: Community/Team $500
