6 Workshop Way, Newcastle NSW 2300, Australia

The Hunter Innovation and Science Hub (HISH) is thrilled to announce the Hunter Science Festival will return in 2025.

Set for Sunday 17 August at Newcastle Museum, with an expected audience of over 4,000, this vibrant, family-friendly event will celebrate science’s power to connect, engage, and spark curiosity across our diverse community.

The festival will feature interactive science zones, mini electric vehicles, and inspiring talks from local researchers. Keep an eye out for HMRI's giant inflatable Poo Palace, for a fun and fascinating journey through the digestive system! The jewel in HISH’s National Science Week crown this year are presentations by two young women who are using their science degrees to pioneer new careers in STEM, and two ‘Big Science Big Fun’ Science Shows presented by Fizzics Education.

Entry is free and registrations are not required. Seating is however limited for the Science Shows and the Poo Place experience, and a token system will be implemented on the day for these activities.

This Inspiring Australia NSW initiative is supported by the Australian Government as part of National Science Week.
