Visit MAPmima and experience exhibitions that tie in with National Science Week 2025 theme Decoding the Universe.
MAPmima has commissioned a work celebrating Science Week that explores themes of stargazing, cosmic wonder, and the vastness of the universe through innovative digital storytelling. The resulting commissioned work Allawah (remain here/belong) Here sees two artists uniting. Multi-disciplinary Gadigal artist Nadeena Dixon and Creative Producer Jax North. The artwork will tell Nadeena Dixon’s story, of ‘my family’s ongoing connections from creation to our old people’s resilience, survival and adaptation.’ A panoramic digital media animation will be a re-storying, of country and kin travelling. A figure representing Nadeena invites listeners into the creation story, this short immersive animation reinterprets archival materials with a Gadigal lens and new digital animation that writes back into country ‘Our people who were always here.’
This commission is the result of an Inspiring Australia National Science Week Grant.
