Prehistoric Bayside - National Science Week panel discussion

Join our expert palaeontologist panel for a fascinating discussion on Australia’s world-renowned fossils. Ben Francischelli is a palaeontologist and curator of Prehistoric Bayside. Ben will introduce audiences to the incredible fossil discoveries in Bayside.

You will then hear from some of Australia’s most interesting palaeontologists. Jake Kotevski will discuss Australia’s carnivorous dinosaurs. Astrid O’Connor will look at Victoria’s marsupial megafauna and other fossil oddballs. Adele Pentland will present on gigantic flying reptiles known as pterosaurs. Ruairidh Duncan will be looking at whales that have been found from the surf coast of Victoria.

Panellists consist of:

  • Adele Pentland: Pterosaur palaeontologist based in outback Queensland and PhD candidate at Curtin University.
  • Astrid O'Connor: Marsupial megafauna palaeontologist and PhD candidate at Monash University.
  • Jake Kotevski: Dinosaur palaeontologist and PhD candidate at Monash University.
  • Ruairidh Duncan: Whale palaeontologist and PhD candidate at Monash University.

 This event is held in association with the exhibition Prehistoric Bayside. The exhibition is on display at Bayside Gallery from 29 June to 25 August 2024. Bookings are essential.
