  • Kilcoy State School Ted Peachey Hall
47 Royston Street, Kilcoy QLD 4515, Australia

Kilcoy State School Science Expo will embrace the National Science Week theme, Species Survival: More Than Just Sustainability, by showcasing the biodiversity of our local region. Our small town is proud of the important role we play in food production in the area, and our education and care in protecting our endemic plants and animals, such as the preservation of local koala and platypus habitats. Every class will focus on a different aspect of the National Science Week theme, producing exhibits according to age-appropriate pedagogies. They will impart a deeper knowledge of their focus topic by involving students with visually engaging presentations, interactive and hands-on displays and ICTs such as iPads, laptops and QR codes. Displays and activities will be set up in the school Hall and classes will rotate through these over two days in Science Week. Parents will be welcome to visit at the same time as their child’s class, or after school. Community groups will also be invited to visit after school, and Student Leaders will act as guides for each activity station. Photos of students interacting with activities will be included in the school’s Social Media and Parent Magazine and classes will vote for their favourite learning experience.
