The Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum was founded by local farmers David and Judy Elliott after finding a sauropod femur on their property Belmont Station. After finding more fossils at other sites they established a temporary fossil preparation facility in a shed on Belmont.
The Museum is now located in a purpose built facility on a 1400ha site donated by the owners of Mt Landsborough Station. As well as exploring the fossil collection, visitors can take a behind the scenes tour of the fossil preparation laboratory.
Visitors can also apply to join the fossil preparation team and stay on-site for two days or even apply to become honorary fossil technicians after ten days of training and assessment. Children aged 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult. Week-long residental dinosaur dig experiences are also available.
There is a gift shop and a cafe on-site.
Open everyday in winter (1 April - 31 October) and Monday - Saturday in summer (1 November - 31 March). Closed 25-26 and 30-31 December.
