Port Macquarie ObservatoryAn evening at the Port Macquarie Observatory begins with an hour-long presentation about the objects in the night sky with spectacular images from much larger telescopes and space probes. Weather permittng, the sessions end with visitors being able to look through the observatory's telescope at the Moon, planets, nebula and other objects in the sky that night.

The Observatory is run by the local amatuer astronomical society. It was founded in 1961 and the dome originally housed a 5" refractor telescope. The dome now features a 14" Schmidt-Cassegrain instrument.

Open night presentations and observing from 7.15pm on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Each session can accommodate up to 60 guests on a first-come, first-served basis. bookings are not available. Admission fees apply.
