Mushroom Workshop at Tunnel Hill

  • From
  • Tunnell Hill Mushrooms
2 Old Coach Road, Hobart TAS 7170, Australia

Explore the fascinating transformation of an abandoned Tasmanian railway tunnel into a thriving hub for growing gourmet mushrooms. Tunnel Hill Mushrooms founder Dean Smith will be joined by Tim Murch from West Tamar Fungi to teach you about the production process from lab to tunnel and how to harvest mushrooms and prepare them for cooking. Then you’ll have a chance to mix your own straw fungi logs to produce fresh mushrooms at home. As you hear about the epic history of the railway-tunnel-turned-grow-room, you’ll also get the chance to pick and sample mushrooms, which Dean will grill up for you on his one-of-a-kind Train BBQ! This is a truly unique experience and a rare opportunity to visit this incredible historic site.
