The inaugural STEMfest is a free-to-all community event, hosted by Hedland Senior High School. Guests will be able to move freely throughout the one-night-only exhibitions and interactive activities, learning about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in an engaging way.

Got young kids? They can build something at the Little Makers Space, go fishing sustainably with Jessamy from DPIRD, or practice their mathematics using projectiles while you watch a film or two in the SCINEMA. Learn about sound waves with fire in the Ruben’s Flaming Disco, star gaze with a Cultural Astronomer, and take a picture in the science-themed photo booth to remember your evening. And don’t forget to pick up a free STEM at HOME booklet before you leave.

Have you ever coded a robot to battle to the death? Well now’s your chance at STEMfest. You can find out how much sugar is in some of your favourite treats, look at a galaxy far, far away using a telescope, then zoom in and check out what’s growing under your very own fingernails using a microscope.

Science Fair Projects will be on display from the students of Hedland Senior High School, and winners will be announced on the night.
