Illawarra Flame Festival

A family friendly event that looks at how flame affects our environment. There will be live music, performances, science shows, stalls and presentations by ecologists, physicists and environmental scientists plus 3D printing workshops and much more

This will be the second year of the festival and due to last year’s success the event has been moved to a larger more profile location at a local park called Wisemans Park in Gwynneville.  This location contains rare grasslands, beautiful gumtrees and some Flame Trees that have been propagated by bird droppings.

There will be  guided walks through the vegetation, self guided walks at the perimeter of the park where people can learn the names of the local gumtrees and use them as an inspiration for poetry, displays by the local RFS, presentations by the physics department at UOW, a science show from the Science Space, fire safe talks, propagation workshops, 3D workshops, a presentation about the use of fire by first nation people and lots more.
